Join us for the 7th annual Summit as The Movement to End Youth Homelessness expands statewide.

Over the past six years, the Summit brought together stakeholders across sectors to tackle youth homelessness in Southern Nevada. However, the youth homelessness crisis impacts every corner of our state, and we need statewide solutions to create transformational change.

That’s why we’re excited to take our work statewide at Summit 2023, and we need you to make this happen.

Help us build The Movement End Youth Homelessness across Nevada.

Morning Session – Setting the Stage

  • Plans: Update on the Movement to End Youth Homelessness and statewide plans
  • Insights and Inspiration: Special presentation by youth experiencing homelessness
  • Regional Perspective: Overviews on housing and services, fundraising, policy, systems intersectionality and public/private partnerships from southern, northern, rural and tribal representatives
  • Panel Discussion: Exploration of opportunities, challenges, similarities and differences by regional leaders

Lunch Session – Keynote Address

Award-winning American poet and writer Jimmy Santiago Baca is a winner of the prestigious International Prize for his memoir A Place to Stand.

Long considered one of the best poets in America today, Baca was illiterate at the age of twenty-one and facing five to 10 years in prison for selling drugs. A former homeless youth, he learned to read while in prison and began to turn his life around, eventually emerging as an artist of the spoken and written word.

A Place to Stand has garnered tremendous critical acclaim for its account of Baca’s life before, during and immediately after the years he spent in a maximum-security prison, much of it in isolation. It is an affirmation of one man’s spirit in overcoming brutal adversity.

Afternoon Session – Insights into Action

A series of breakout discussions covering topics outlined in morning sessions will form the next steps for building Nevada’s first comprehensive, statewide plan to end youth homelessness.

Going Statewide

Focusing our work in Southern Nevada is no longer enough – we need to go statewide to create real, lasting change!

Why Statewide:

  • The scope of the youth homelessness crisis is statewide. Going statewide will continue powering the Movement to End Youth Homelessness in the entire state of NEVADA.
  • The Movement’s state-level policy work, such as passing Nevada state laws, affects and requires collaboration across the state – our policy work will be more responsive to identified needs, more likely to come to fruition, and more successfully implemented if we align across the state.
  • There are incredible organizations working throughout the state, and now we must join forces to bring more ideas and solutions to the table – because the issue of youth homelessness is bigger than any one sector and bigger than any one region.

As part of this growth, we will bring new partners on board statewide to discuss necessary steps to create the Movement’s statewide Nevada Plan to End Youth Homelessness.

Why are we charging to attend the Youth Homelessness Summit this year?

In previous years, the Summit has sold out quickly; however, we have seen a high attrition rate on the day of the event. In order to ensure the room is filled with the people who need to be there to make the biggest impact, we have decided to implement a charge going forward. Ticket costs will support expanding statewide efforts around the Movement, including strengthening youth leadership initiatives.

Who should I contact about accessibility?

To ask questions about accessibility or request accommodations, please contact Summit@nphy.org.

    Where do I park?

Paid parking is available in several lots surrounding The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Our events team will be sending further information and maps closer to the event.
