AB 197

What is AB 197?

In 2021, the Movement to End Youth Homelessness in Southern Nevada successfully advocated for AB 197, which removes barriers for unaccompanied minors experiencing homelessness needing critical healthcare. This new law allows those youth to access physical, behavioral, dental, and mental health services without parental consent, eliminating a dangerous four month waiting period and simplifying the process for providers to verify their homelessness status. It’s an essential step to ensure that unaccompanied minors stay safe and healthy

How Does AB 197 Work?
